After all the fanfare and hoopla about the GOP’s Pledge to America, one aspect that should not be overlooked is their promise to “repeal” the recently enacted health care reform.

This one element of the Pledge will have devastating impact on millions of children, families and young adults who are finally eligible for health insurance.

The GOP Pledge, if enacted by a Republican majority, would effectively throw children with pre-existing medical conditions, and families who have lost health insurance as result of mounting claims, and young adults without health insurance under the bus.

This obvious total disregard for these Americans clearly shows that the GOP is more interested in preserving the status quo for health insurance companies than for Americans whose health care is at risk.

What kind of compassionate conservatism is that?
