“We’ll take a cup o’kindness yet, For auld lang syne” was taken from a 1788 Robert Burns poem, set to music, and became a New Year’s tradition, combining nostalgia with positive perspective for the coming year.

So here’s my 2011 “cup of kindness” wish list:

2010 featured an unpopular health care bill, unemployment over nine percent, billions in bailouts, trillions in debt, WikiLeaks disclosures, hostage taker accusations, continuing wars, etc. The only redeeming grace…it’s over.

. November 2010 “shellacking” destroys “politics as usual. However, it is sad that some outstanding conservative congressmen had to lose their office because of the bitter conflict between the major political parties and the addition of the Tea Party movement.

. Newly elected congressional representatives live up to their promises to the people.

. Legislation  comes with full disclosure.

. Pork is diminished, leaving only worthy projects.

. Private sector recovery spurs economic growth, and unemployment plummets.

should auld acquaintance be forgot, and auld lang syne?

God bless America and Happy New Year!
