Possible Treason by Republican Senators

Posted on March 10, 2015

It’s an open affront to President Barack Obama that 47 Republican senators wrote a letter to Tehran, and they warned the Iranians that the nuclear deal could be collected at any time.

This follows Speaker of the House John Boehner’s invitation to Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli prime minister, to speak before a joint session of Congress. Boehner did not even check with the president or the secretary of state about this invitation. This caused a fire storm in international relations.

Now these 47 Republican senators are interfering in foreign policy in an unusual way by warning Tehran in an open letter, that a nuclear deal could be over turned by the Senate or the next president.

These senators fail to realize that this is not just an agreement between the U.S. and Iran.

Until the end of March, Iran with five United Nations veto powers (U.S., Russia, China, Britain and France) and Germany must agree on a framework agreement.

This agreement is under international law, and it is binding on those parties signing it.

This intervention by the Republican party is just at the beginning of the decisive phase in the struggle to reach an agreement in the nuclear dispute with Iran.

President Obama said, “Their goal is to undermine the negotiations.”

Iran reacted promptly, “This letter is legally worthless and only a propaganda ploy.”

The nuclear dispute with Iran has smoldered over 10 years.

To torpedo the attempt of the international community to reach an agreement with Iran on its nuclear program is just unreal. It is just another attack on the president without regard to the consequences.
